Drinks with the Builder
Starting with a celebration
Last month, the builder with whom I have signed a preliminary contract launched their new brand, Sarelle Homes, and a newly fitted-out showroom. I was invited to the drinks. This can only be considered an excellent way to begin a relationship.
From Sarelle’s social media—drinks on the builder
Along with my friend Sandy, we tootled up to Waitara for the big night. Bellinis were on offer, and the Sarelle staff were beautifully outfitted in their newly branded clothing in an attractive olive green colour. Even the macaroons were decorated with the new logo.
Yum!
Meeting the building folks
The showroom itself has been refreshed with the products of a number of new suppliers. As we inspected the doors, the windows, the bathroom fittings, the cabinet handles, – the colours, woodgrains and terrazzo – we were mingling with Sarelle’s suppliers. Sipping a Bellini, I chatted to the chap who was the proud supplier of the terrazzo kitchen bench. The paint selections were explained to me. The chippies, tradesmen, and the people who supply all the bits and pieces that go into fitting out a house were all in attendance, and there was certainly a celebratory atmosphere.

James Treble
I was also introduced to James Treble, the interior designer who is part of the Sarelle team, and with whom I will be – eventually – making my final materials selections. Of course, regular readers will know that I have already made a great number of material selections. However, these need to be fine-tuned and matched to the products that Sarelle’s suppliers offer.
Here is James, and all the things for the selection process (from his website)
James is not only an interior designer, but also a “personality”. Hey, he’s been on television. He has a YouTube channel. The paint people mixed a particular yellow colour for his front door – now that’s celebrity. It’s called ‘Umina Springs’ and it’s very attractive. As you’ll know, a yellow front door is on my wish list.

Celebrating
The evening was an unexpected bonus, and made a change from chasing the trades who have been using my block as a parking lot. Much better to be sipping Bellinis with enthusiastic building people. It’s good to start as we mean to go on.
Up at the block recently: tradies’ parking lot.
